Keep Working
Hard work does pay off in a big way, you just have to believe in yourself. The month of December is a special month in the way that you usually reflect on the year that was and sayyid yourself “Did I Work Hard Enough” or “Did I Accomplish All that I set out to do in 2020”. These are common and okay questions to ask yourself. The past year has been a challenge for us all, we all set out to accomplish goals for 2020, but couldn’t predict what the year had in terms of challenges.
The introduction to a virus that we have never ever seen before at the beginning of February and a lockdown happening the middle of March was also an eye opener. Wearing a mask, sanitizing your hands and social distancing seemed like unrealistic terms that we would be using, but before we knew it, we were doing all of those things. We made sure that we were well prepared by stockings up on essential products and trying to be safe in malls and stores. That being said, not being able to physically see friends and only seeing them online through video services like Facebook Messenger Video, Whatsapp , Skype, or Zoom helped us spend time virtually with the ones that we care most about made lockdown more manageable.
Once the lockdown was lifted with very strict protocols that went along with it might I add, reopening our economy was a hurdle that we all wondered about how we will be going about it. The economy was on restart and. It was key to restart it while putting in stringent measures to prevent another potential lockdown or a spike in cases. With strict measures, the reset button was pushed and businesses reopened trying to attempt to salvage any hope of operating in 2020, but with a lot of restrictions, many businesses couldn’t survive and unfortunately went under as a result of the effects of COVID . Who knew a virus would have such an impact on everything that 2020 had to offer and it showed with the cancellation of many events throughout the summer months and the virtual events that had to be planned and executed.
Personally, I feel that I have grown and developed as a result of COVID-19. While in lockdown, it give me the opportunity to reconnect with myself in a way that I never got to before, having more time for myself and working towards a single goal each and everyday whether that being reading until a certain cut off point or becoming more knowledgeable in a certain area of my life. Mentally, I was focused on myself and my own needs while checking in on others. When I was able to head back to work at the middle of July, there was pent up energy in me and getting back to what I enjoy doing was motivational to me. A routine of some type of normal was key for my continuing development throughout 2020 and it has showed in more ways than one since I have been back.
When hard work gets accomplished and you are passionate about impacting the lives of other people throughout a global pandemic it shows the resiliency that one has and what they are truly passionate about. Yes, you must take care of yourself and make sure that you are safe and healthy, but at the same time, if you help people make sure they are ok, you will be more content with yourself knowing that you helped someone get through theirs as well!!
With the holiday season fast approaching, take time to check in with your friends and family and be kind to yourself as well!! Self care is so important and it is needed now more than ever before. I am no crystal globe person and I do not know what the future holds, all I know is that you have the power to make a positive impact in your life and in the lives of others around you and there is no better time to do it than right now.
As we go throughout own personal journey in life, people will be introduced in the different chapters and people will exit in different areas as well but it’s how you conduct yourself that makes it all worth while. “Keep the good in your life an weed out the bad” that’s my motto, what’s yours? How do you want to personally remember 2020 and what’s your personal vision for 2020 ?
Just a thought as we come to a close on the year that was “2020”
Continue to keep safe folks!!
