SuperLeague For The Rich, But Not For The Fans

 With the recent announcement of the Super League, many people are wondering why the 12 top clubs are launching a breakaway Super League and it is frustrating everyone around the world who is involved in soccer and is a fan of beautiful game. A lot of wealthy European clubs have angered a lot of the soccer community and the UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin, who said that those clubs could be banned from this year's European Championship and next year's world cup.

The biggest disappointment with this SuperLeague is that this league has the potential to turn traditional football on its' head and would have the ability to change the shape of the game in terms of pure greed and money is what drives the SuperLeague. A lot of these clubs that are breaking away from their own leagues are clubs and high profile managers that are very wealthy.

The English, Italian and Spanish clubs announced the Super League project that threatens to split the historic structure of European soccer and the sport as we all know it. The six English clubs- Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur -- alongside three teams from Italy -- AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus -- and three from Spain -- Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid-- Laid out plans to form a breakaway competition. The clubs are already so full with money, that they would just be filling their respective pockets up with more money but would leave behind their loyal fanbases and huge followings in the process, not to mention the long term damage that this will cause to football from an ethical/moral standpoint and implications this will have on smaller monetary clubs that are fighting to keep alive.

Using us fans as bargaining chips is unacceptable and it is not ethically/morally right as we are passionate about the sport and we cheer for our specific teams on a regular basis. Fans must stand up for what is morally and ethically right for the love of the game and the overall respect that it deserves, not just for the financial gain that your favorite team could be getting through the Super League.

European Super League's movers and shakers

The dozen clubs behind the Super League are some of Europe's wealthiest, owned or controlled by diverse global interests. The league will ultimately consist of 20 teams, but be governed by 12 founding members and another three yet to be disclosed.

Those 12 teams are the following;

As you can see in the graphic, all of these football clubs have high values, big revenues and a low debt value. If the Super League goes through and I personally hope it does not, it will reshape football as we know it from the present and going into the future. Money should not be the route of all evil, but it in fact the case. Instead of the Super League, they should scrap it and put some money into the lower revenue clubs that are struggling to keep money flowing within their clubs. By not having he Super League, the fans will not feel blind sided and will be able to keep passion alive for both the fans and the traditional game of football as a whole.
